Description
Commissioned by The U.S. Army Brass Quintet to add some Latin flavor to their programs, this piece features Trumpet 1 and Trombone. The tumbão bass line in the tuba is difficult as the player rarely plays on the downbeat.
Safado is a somewhat derogatory slang term in Brazilian Portuguese that has no good English translation. The best I can do is a disembarrassed, lazy, cheapskate-moocher. Think of this as the safado individual’s theme song.
Instrumentation:
- Trumpet 1 & 2
- Horn in F
- Trombone
- Tuba
- Pandeiro
Difficulty: Difficult
